Hello Sadness

Diane Kurys, who some will remember for her 1983 "Entre Nous" (and unfortunately not much since) is now in the theaters, here in Europe, with a movie entitled "Sagan".

I have not had a chance to see it yet, but the reviews are very enthusiastic. The film is not a biography of Carl Sagan, but that of Francoise Sagan, the celebrated French writer, whose main claim to fame is a book entitled Bonjour Tristesse (Hello Sadness), the story of a daughter plotting to break up her father's affair, which she published when she was 19 -- and received the 1957, "Prix des Critiques".

Francoise Sagan, who died in September 2004, was as much known for her work, as for her gambling, her drinking, her sexual adventures, her marriages and divorces. She once wrote: "To jealousy, nothing is more frightful than laughter."
